Lemon, Ginger, and Cinnamon Flu-Fighting Tea

January 3, 2024

This soothing tea is a wonderful home remedy for easing the symptoms of the flu or common cold. The combination of lemon, ginger, and cinnamon not only creates a comforting and tasty beverage but also harnesses the natural healing properties of these ingredients.

Ingredients:

1-inch fresh ginger root

1 cinnamon stick (or ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon)

1 lemon

2 cups of water

Honey (optional, to taste)

Instructions:

Prepare the Ingredients:

Peel and thinly slice the ginger root.

Slice the lemon in half. You’ll use one half for juice and the other half can be sliced to add into the tea.

Brew the Tea:

In a small pot, add 2 cups of water.

Add the sliced ginger and cinnamon stick (or ground cinnamon) to the water.

Bring the water to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 10 minutes. This allows the flavors to infuse.

Add Lemon:

After simmering, remove the pot from the heat.

Squeeze in the juice from half a lemon. If you like, you can also add a few lemon slices for extra flavor and presentation.

Strain and Serve:

Strain the tea into a mug to remove the ginger slices, cinnamon stick, and any lemon seeds.

If you prefer a sweeter taste, stir in a spoonful of honey to your tea. Honey also has soothing properties that are beneficial for sore throats.

Enjoy:

Sip the tea while it’s warm to enjoy its maximum benefits. The warm liquid can be soothing for a sore throat, and the steam can help clear nasal passages.

Note: This tea is a traditional home remedy and can help with symptom relief. However, it's not a substitute for professional medical treatment. If you have severe symptoms or health concerns, it's important to consult with a healthcare professional.
